What is Universal Theme and why has it locked my colours?

Universal Theme sets one colour across every compatible DNR device at once so your wheel, button box, eyebrows, flag box and telemetry LEDs all match instead of being coloured one page at a time.

It lives in Daniel Newman Racing > Settings > Theme, and it has two separate colours:

  • Menu theme colour, used when SimHub is running but no game session is active, so on the desktop or in menus
  • Game theme colour, used when SimHub is running and the game session has been launched

Because its whole purpose is to override, any per device or per button colour is locked while it is on, including when that device is already set to the Custom theme. That is why a colour you have just changed can appear to do nothing.

To colour a device individually, turn Universal Theme off and set that device's own theme to Custom. To keep everything in step, leave it on and change the colour in Settings instead.

Universal settings also exist for individual effects, such as flags, spotters, engine start, low fuel and ERS mode. Those are shared deliberately so an effect means the same thing on every device you own.
