How do the proximity spotter LEDs work?

Proximity spotters warn you about cars close alongside by lighting the LEDs on the corresponding side of the device. On a steering wheel that means the buttons on that side of the rim; on a telemetry bar it is the side LEDs.

They are enabled per device on each page's Effects tab, and tuned once in the shared Universal Spotter Settings:

  • Spotter Colour, applied across all DNR devices
  • Spotter Detection Distance and Spotter Distance Far, which set how early a car counts as close
  • Spotter Frequency Close and Spotter Frequency Far in milliseconds, so a car right beside you pulses faster than one just arriving

When a flag and a spotter both want the same LEDs, Flags Priority decides which wins. You can set either Flags take priority over Spotter or Spotter takes priority over Flags, depending on whether you would rather never miss a yellow or never be surprised on a restart.

Spotter accuracy depends on the position data the sim provides, so behaviour varies a little between titles.
