There are two ways to keep your DNR settings safe, and they do different jobs.

Cloud backup happens on its own. Shortly after you change a setting, the plugin saves a copy to your DNR account, keeps a history, and you restore it from Universal Settings, then Backup & Restore. You do not have to remember anything, and it needs a Pit Crew membership or above.

The settings file is manual and yours to look after. On the plugin's Home page, open Manage plugin data. Export writes every setting and preset to a single `.json` file wherever you choose, and Import loads one back. It is free on every plan, including Free, and it works with no internet and no account.

Which to use. For everyday safety, do nothing, because cloud backup already has it. Use the file when you want a copy you control: before a big rebuild, to hand your setup to someone else, or to move to a PC that is not signed in to your account.

One important warning about Import. It replaces ALL of your current presets, not just the ones in the file. Export what you have first, or restore from cloud backup afterwards if it was not what you wanted.

Both cover the same thing: your colours, effects, presets and per device setup. Neither includes LED profiles or dashboards, which are separate files you can reinstall from your dashboard at any time.
