What is Car Ranges on a rotary, and why is my TC or ABS dial not showing the setting I am on?

Car Ranges is a third Rotary Display Style, alongside Single LED and Fill to Current Value, and it applies to a rotary set to TC or ABS. Instead of lighting one position, it paints the whole ring with what the real car's dial actually does, then marks where you have it set.

In the standard colours:

• Red is the off position
• White is the dry settings
• Blue is the wet settings
• Green is the setting you are currently on

Cars that use a sliding scale rather than dry and wet zones run through orange, yellow, green and blue instead. There is also a theme colours option if you would rather the ring matched your wheel's own theme.

At setting 0 the ring is meant to look different. The aid is off, so the ring dims right down and the marker turns red at the off position instead of green. That is the intended picture, not a fault.

If the green marker never appears at any setting, check these in order:

1. The dial is not set up as an absolute encoder in SimHub. This is the most common cause by far. When a dial is configured that way, SimHub writes that ring's LEDs itself and overwrites whatever the DNR profile draws, so Car Ranges never reaches the wheel. Set the dial back to a normal up and down encoder and the ring is ours again.
2. Rotary Display Style is set to Car Ranges. Click the rotary on the wheel diagram in Steering Wheels > Button Effects and check the style. Single LED and Fill to Current Value draw a plain dial instead.
3. The plugin is signed in and your membership is active. The car's dial ranges come with a membership, and without one the ring falls back to the plain dial.
4. The plugin has downloaded its car data. It collects that on startup, so it needs an internet connection at least once.
5. We hold data for the car you are driving. A car with no dial ranges on file shows the plain dial. Tell us which car and we will add it.

Car Ranges works in iRacing. The setting your TC or ABS dial is on comes from iRacing itself and needs no third party plugin. The Dahl plugin note and the missing ABS telemetry note apply only to the TC Active and ABS Active effects, which flash while the aid is stepping in. That is a different thing from the setting the dial is on.
