What is the Button Box Profile, and which file do I download for my box?
Since plugin 7.1 there is one button box download, called Daniel Newman Racing - Button Box Profile, and it is the same file for every box we support. Whichever box you own, that is the file.
How one file fits every box. The file you download is a shell. When it lands on your box, the plugin fills it in for that exact box: the button map, the colours, the effects and the idle animation are built on your PC from the data for your account. That is why it needs three things the first time: the plugin signed in on its Home page, an internet connection on that start, and a membership or partner code that includes your box. Button box profiles are included from Pit Crew up.
Installing it. The easy route is inside the plugin: open LED Devices, press MANAGE on Button Boxes, and press Install this profile under your box. Nothing to download or unzip. The other route is by hand: sign in at danielnewmanracing.com, open Downloads, download the Button Box Profile from your box's product, then in SimHub open Devices, select your box, open its LEDs tab and use Import profile. Back in the plugin, press Check for updates on LED Devices and the plugin builds it for your box.
The boxes it builds for: Precision Sim Engineering Pro Switch Panel (landscape or portrait mounting), Bavarian SimTec Control Center, Box One Racing X1 Button Box, Pokornyi MCP Button Box, Pokornyi MCP Encoder Box, Pokornyi MCP Ignition Box, SimDash SD8-BB1 and Velocitus Imperium VI-CWBB. The Pokornyi MCP set is three boxes and the one file serves all three: put it on each box's device in SimHub and the plugin builds each one differently.
If you still have an older per-box profile installed, a file named after your box such as Bavarian SimTec Control Center or SimDash SD8-BB1, you do not need to do anything. Those files are retired, and the plugin swaps yours for the Button Box Profile on its own when it next checks for profile updates, which happens every time SimHub starts. It only makes the swap once it holds the data to build your box, so you are never left with an empty profile. Your presets, colours and effects live in the plugin rather than in the profile, and are untouched.
Boxes built on an Arduino. SimHub lists a Box One X1 or a SimDash SD8-BB1 as Arduino RGB LEDs rather than by name. The plugin recognises which box it is from the hardware plugged in, so have the box connected when SimHub starts.
