How do I bind a Control Deck key to a sim or SimHub control?

Use a DNR Hotkey key. Its Sends setting offers four ways to drive something:

  • Keyboard shortcut. Click the shortcut field, press your key combination, and the deck records it. Then bind that same key in your sim or in SimHub to whatever you want it to do.
  • Control Mapper role. Drives a SimHub Control Mapper role directly, the same way SimHub's own deck plugin does. The list loads live from SimHub, so keep SimHub open while you configure.
  • SimHub Control. The key acts like a controller button. In SimHub, go to Controls and events, click the mapping picker so it starts listening, then press the deck key once. SimHub captures it and you can bind it to anything. Press and hold behaves like a real button.
  • SimHub Action. Fires a SimHub action directly with no mapping needed. The list comes live from SimHub.

There is a Hold while the deck key is held option, which matters for anything you need to keep pressed, such as holding a key to tow.

If recording a shortcut does not suit, Pick manually instead gives you a dropdown of 101 keys covering F1 to F24, the numpad, numbers, letters, navigation keys and punctuation, plus Ctrl, Alt and Shift tick boxes.

Icons. A DNR Hotkey key takes an icon from the DNR library and a colour for it. Name the key using your deck software's own Title field.

Your own artwork goes on a DNR Custom Hotkey key instead. Choose an image under 4 MB and it sits inside the DNR frame, so the key still flashes flag, pit and spotter effects. It can send a keystroke too.
